How to evaluate the correlation between patient- and tooth-related variables and tooth loss during SPC over a 5-year period in patients with #periodontitis? The paper summarised in JCP Digest 125 found that the overall tooth loss rate was low in private practice settings, and that both tooth- and patient-based prognostic systems showed high negative but low positive predictive values for tooth loss during SPC. Tthe study emphasises the need to improve positive predictive values of prognostic systems to identify patients/teeth at risk of tooth loss, and indicates that low positive predictive values infer a risk of overtreatment. #EFPerio #JCPbyEFP #periodontologyhttps://lnkd.in/dmiMPZC4
