How to Change Your Picture on Life360 (2024)

Your profile picture within the location pin is one of the things that makes Life360 special. During the initial set-up, you’re asked to allow access to your Camera or Gallery to provide a picture for the app.

Right off the bat, this is one of the easiest things to do; a process similar to any other app featuring your profile picture. This write-up focuses on changing your profile picture, with other useful ways to customize your account included.

Before you proceed, it’s worth noting that the steps have been tested on an iPhone running iOS 13. This shouldn’t be a problem because the app’s UI is the same on Android and Life360 asks for the same permissions.

With iOS or Android, tap on Settings at the bottom right of the screen and select Account under Universal Settings. The following window features a few options to tweak your account but, for now, we’ll deal with changing the profile picture.

Tap on your name under Profile, then tap the profile picture in the next window. A pop-up appears and you can choose “Take Photo” or “Choose from Library.” After you select either one, you might need to allow Life360 access to your Gallery or Camera.

Snap a selfie or choose an image from the library and you’re good to go. You might need to reposition the photo so it fits the frame better, but that’s pretty much all there is to it.

You can update your first and last name in the same window. But don’t forget to hit the Save button in the upper right corner of the screen to keep the changes.

Safety Concerns

Some users don’t like the fact that Life360 gains access to Camera and Gallery. But there’s no reason to worry. These features are easy to turn off. The following explanation shows you how to do so on an iPhone. The method is pretty similar on Android, if the verbiage might be different.

Access Settings and swipe down to Life360 and tap to open the app. The following window features all permissions that are associated with the app. To disconnect Camera, tap on the button next to it to toggle off, then select Photos and choose “Never” or “Read and Write.”

It’s worth noting that the app won’t allow you to change the profile photo when these permissions are disabled. The same happens when you click on “Don’t Allow” in the pop-up window. Of course, you can always go back to the settings and change permissions.

Other Account Settings

The Account menu is the place where you can change the phone number, email address, and password. The Account Management section also allows you to delete your profile or “Send Location Feedback”.

Changing these settings is pretty straightforward. You tap on any of the given options, enter new information, and tap Save for changes to take effect. Creating a new password requires you to provide your old password. If you can’t remember what it was, you need to use the “Forgot my password” wizard.

As you might already know, Life360 offers emergency services such as Roadside Assistance, Accident Alert, and more. That’s why it’s advisable to set the phone number you’re using on that smartphone. It allows other members to get in touch with you in case of an emergency, even if you don’t have access to Wi-Fi.

Deleting the account removes all your data and circles. This is something you should only do if you want to stop using the app. When you just want to get out of a specific circle, go to Settings, select Circle Management, and choose the one you’d like to leave.

“Send Location Feedback” is one of the most interesting Life360 features. It works like a miniature email client, allowing you to send an email about your current location. Again, this is useful in case of an emergency or when you encounter roadside conditions others should know about.

Tap “Send Location Feedback”, enter your message into the box. You can also add an image by tapping on the camera icon. By default, the software uses the email that’s associated with Life360. But you can change it to a different address without messing up the rest of the settings. The same goes for the sender’s name under the “From” section.

Is There Anything Else You Can Change on Life360?

In terms of style and appearance, you can only change the profile picture. There are no themes, color changes, and other aesthetic tweaks, but you don’t really need them. As for other features, you can change location name and address, add more places to the map, and invite new members to join your circle.

If you’re the one who created the circle, there’s an option to set yourself as an admin. Plus, Life360 allows you to go off grid for a while and stop location tracking.

Smile for the Camera

Whichever way you look at it, changing the Life360 profile picture is a walk in the park. The only trick is to shoot a decent selfie, so your entire face fits in the Life360 profile frame.
