JetBlue's 2-day sale: Save $25 each way on flights this fall - The Points Guy (2024)

Update: Some offers mentioned below are no longer available. View the current offers here.

Listen up, because for two days you can score deals on nonstop JetBlue flights using the code FALLSALE. When you spend $50 or more on airfare in one direction, JetBlue will take $25 off of that price for travel booked by midnight Aug. 3.

Although JetBlue advertises this deal for discounted one-way flights, you can stack two one-way flights to make a round-trip flight and get the discount.

This is a pretty jaw-dropping deal, with nonstop round-trip flights from New York City to Miami as low as $83, and Atlanta to Boston for $163.

Sample flights

There are tons of possible routes in this deal, with all nonstop JetBlue flights (excluding transcontinental ones) as potential options. Because of this, we recommend taking a look at the nonstop routes that JetBlue offers.

For this article, we decided to look at the airports JetBlue flies directly to from New York. We found that you can fly nonstop from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Miami International Airport (MIA).

From there, we hopped over to the Best Fare Finder calendar to see which dates had the cheapest starting fares during the travel dates of this deal. There, we found that the best rate before adding the promo was $69 for this JFK-to-MIA route. We decided we would check on Oct. 4 departures and Oct. 12 return flights because those two days promised this low rate.

Once those dates were selected, we moved over to the sale page. We could easily search for the exact flights we wanted to book while ensuring the promo code applied successfully.

You can then scroll through the flight options. You'll notice the promo won't apply to some options, so just look for the prices that are crossed out and discounted by $25. We went with the 2:40 p.m. option for $42 one-way, and the 8 a.m. return flight for the same price.

This brought the total price down to $83.44 from $134 — that's $50.56 off.

While this isn't the easiest, most intuitive deal to book, it has some pretty unbeatable routes and prices. Following these steps will make it a little easier and still get you those great prices.

Maximize your purchase

Don't forget to use a card that earns bonus points on airfare purchases, such as The Platinum Card® from American Express, which earns 5 points per dollar on airfare booked directly with the airline or through American Express Travel (on up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year). The Citi Premier® Card (see rates and fees) and Chase Sapphire Reserve earn 3 points per dollar on airfare, and the American Express® Gold Card also earns 3 points per dollar on airfare when booked directly with the airline or through Amex Travel. Meanwhile, the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card earns 2 points per dollar on travel. Check out this post for more on maximizing airfare purchases.

Bottom line

The JetBlue site can make it feel impossible to find a flight that meets all the criteria, but if you follow the steps we outlined above, you'll be on your way to finding tons of discounted flights.

Just remember to make sure the flights you're booking aren't transcontinental, don't have any layovers, aren't Mint fares and don't include Friday and Sunday travel — those are excluded from this sale. Make sure the FALLSALE promo code is applying, and your travel dates are within the Sept. 7 through Nov. 16 time frame.

It's worth noting that JetBlue is also offering a vacation package promo when you book within the same time frame for travel between Aug. 9, 2022, and June 25, 2023. With this deal you can get packages for flights and hotels or flights and cruises for $300 off, using the promo code SAVE300. You can learn more about this deal on the JetBlue sale page.
