This is an easy and cheesy Loaded Poutine Recipe made to serve champions.

Football season is coming and I cannot wait. Not because of the violent, brawling, and physical game of football. No, no, no. I love the tailgating, the partying, and the food! I belong to a huge football family. My family loves the game and always argue over their favorite teams. You know what I’m doing while they are doing all that arguing and (sometimes) cursing? I’m chilling in the background eating the football food. Yep, I’m one of the first ones to indulge in the chicken wings, nachos and several dips, burger, and cute dessert treats. I also may drink a beer or two. So I am all about the finger and football foods to kick-start any football season. Now, I want to introduce something new to the football and tailgate table. I would like to introduce to you my first poutine recipe that I’d like to call Loaded Poutine recipe (creative, huh?).

The first time I had poutine, which is a classic Canadian dish, was a couple of years ago at a local restaurant in Cincinnati, OH called Senate. First of all, let me pay homage to Senate as it is one of my husband’s and I favorite restaurants in this awesome city. Their menu is full of gourmet street foods and amazing co*cktails. If you are ever in Cincinnati, you have to go there. They have poutine on their menu where the French Fries are fried in duck fat or truffle oil, its topped off with delicious gravy with chunks of delicious short ribs, and a cheesy sauce with cheese curds. I mean…Oh my! We get a sneak peek of heaven every time we eat this amazing dish.

Now you know your girl had to try this at home. I didn’t want to make a poutine recipe as traditional as the one I just described as everyone may not have enough time to make the short ribs. So I fried my fries in regular peanut oil, made a delicious cheese gravy (cheese sauce) and topped the fries off with bacon, tomatoes, chives, and added the cheese curds to that delicious cheese sauce. Let me just say, we loved it! It wasn’t like the one we are used to but it came very close. I was thinking with football season approaching; this Loaded Poutine Recipe is perfect. You can cook your fries, lay them out on a large serving platter, add the toppings on top and let people go at it! I love dishes like this that are easy and self-serving. This will surely kick off your football season!

Description

The Loaded Poutine Recipe is an easy and all-start recipe that will get any crowd going for football season! Try this Loaded Poutine Recipe to kick off your football season this year!

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp. butter
  • 4 tbsp. flour
  • 2 ½ c. milk
  • 2 ½ c. sharp cheddar cheese (I recommend grating the cheese)
  • 10 oz. yellow cheese curds
  • ½ lb. bacon, cooked and diced
  • ½ c. chopped chives
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, diced
  • 1 lb. French Fries (frozen or hand cut)
  • oil for frying ( I used peanut oil)

Instructions

  1. Heat a deep fryer on 350 Degrees and fill with oil half way. Once the oil is heated, add the French Fries and cook until crispy and golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. You may have to do two batches of fries depending on your deep fryer. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries and turn to a large plate lined with paper towel and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Once the French Fries are cooked, turn to a large serving platter.
  2. In a medium sauce pot on low to medium heat, melt the butter. Once the butter has melted, sprinkle in the flour and stir. The mixture will appear clumpy. Slowly stir in the milk while whisking for a smooth and creamy mixture. Allow the mixture to thicken for 5 minutes while stirring periodically. Add the shredded cheese and stir to dissolve the cheese and for a creamy mixture. Add pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Add the cheese curds and stir for about 1 minute. Pour the cheese sauce over the French Fries and top off with the bacon, tomatoes, and chives and serve.
