It was a very good experience! After the Covid-19 pandemic, it was nice to actually go into the building to experience high school.

My overall experience within the DeKalb County School system could have been better. The environment could have been more helpful in learning. Throughout my experience, I have encountered some unprofessional staff members who have cursed at students. Teachers with one teaching style do not accommodate others' learning styles, such as kinesthetic, social learning, etc. I have sometimes found alternative ways to learn the materials being taught in school. There are often explicit videos being circulated, which at times are not adequately addressed by staff. The meals that are provided are, at times, raw. Like most counties/cities, some schools have staff that are more dedicated to teaching their students and want them to succeed. DeKalb is one of them, but there are fewer than most, which unfortunately correlates to our reputation as one of GA's most poorly managed. DeKalb County has the funds they should focus on the students struggling to read at their grade level.

Dekalb County has a lot of issues and have not been able to address it in a timely manner. They are great at pushing things aside and going surveys but not really listening to the parents feedback. I am lucky that I go to school where I do. The teachers and admins care about the students and do their best to make sure we get what we need. I am also very fortunate to have such a large parent community that is so involved. Without the parents fighting for what is rightfully due to us, Dekalb county would do nothing to correct the problems we have at the school.
