Morris James Crawford, Jr., “Skip,” was born to Morris James Crawford, Sr. and Lucille Dotson Crawford in Austin, Texas, on November 5, 1947. A child of Ebenezer Third Baptist Church in Austin, he was baptized at an early age by Rev. Robert L. Rowe.

Everyone just called him “Skip.” In his youth, Skip loved tennis, swimming, boating and family camping trips to Padre Island. These activities captivated him well into adulthood, until he met Elma. His life became ‘Elma’ enjoying travel across country and internationally with his new love. Eventually, his son, Morrel was added to the travel party, and later, Skip’s granddaughter, Nevaeh. Skip truly loved his Bride Elma and she became his constant companion.

Skip was a member of the notable Original L.C. Anderson High School Class of 1965 where he eagerly participated in the award-winning marching band. After high school graduation, he attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. Skip began his career in transportation as a part-time driver, but eventually he owned his own commercial vehicles as an independent contractor. He became a distinguished member of the Million Mile Club, earned by his accumulated thirty years of service and over five million miles of driving. His history of safe driving and professional service to National Freight Lines and Landstar Transportation System were commendable.

Skip returned to Austin following the death of his mother and reunited with Ebenezer Third Baptist Church as a faithful member who served willingly. During his final journey, Skip reconfirmed his faith in Christ Jesus.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Morris, and Lucille Crawford. He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memories his beloved wife Elma, and devoted son, Morrel Crawford; granddaughter Nevaeh Crawford; sister, Karen Crawford Edwards, and a host of loving family and friends. Skip was dearly loved by all.
